A Reliable Aircraft Fluid Dispensing Equipment Manufacturer

U.S. MFG. & DESIGN, INC. is a leading developer of polyethylene aircraft fluid dispensing equipment since 1994 and has been servicing the military and airline industries worldwide for more than two decades.

Bob Benson, our president and CEO, has more than 50 years of experience in the aviation industry. In 1988, as Senior Engineer in Advanced Engineering with Northwest Airlines, Mr. Benson designed the airline’s fluid handling systems, and it was tested by EXXON for two years. These units are still in use today.

After leaving Northwest in the early 90s, Bob started his own company to market fluid dispensing equipment and high-pressure service units to the aircraft industry worldwide.

The USMDI product line has proven to be reliable and environmentally sound, both in form and function. Our design philosophy incorporates the following aspects of each design.

First, it is to know our customer, their needs, and how they want this product to work for them. Second, it is to design a product with a long life expectancy and easy maintenance. Third, it is to protect aircraft parts and components being serviced by our product. Last is to protect the environment through careful selection of materials, components, and product design and function.

Fluid dispensing methods have not changed since the 1920s with metal containers that condensate and breed contamination that can destroy critical aircraft components. Our technology is an innovative blend of simplicity with high-tech ingenuity.

We know our products take a beating on a flight line, and you want them to work when you need them. With the rapid movements in the aviation technologies from new materials and electronics to more efficient engines and airframes, the U.S. MFG. & DESIGN, INC. is following this technology growth.

We intentionally design each product for a long life by selecting only the finest materials best suited to the use of each dispenser and the conditions they will be subjected to. Many companies have privately labeled our designs, but none can match the technology of U.S. MFG. & DESIGN, INC. Working with airline and military customers, we have acquired the design technologies that go far beyond our competitors.

The U.S. MFG. & DESIGN, INC. products reach into the future and keep pace with evolving aviation technology. By using state-of-the-art technologies and current material research, plus working closely with key airline employees, the USMDI product line is well tuned to the needs of the aviation industry.

Our main product feature is a specially designed hand pump that can be used in all of our hand-operated units. The pump head has two extra ports in the top that are used to convert the fluid handling system from an open to closed containment system.

The translucent polyethylene container allows the operator to view the level of solution in the container at all times. This type of container has been tested in harsh environments in the most rugged conditions and will provide many years of safe, clean, and environmentally sound operation.

If the user wishes to use the open system, these ports are plugged. A fill cap is installed on the container. When filling the container, the cap is opened, leaving the inside of the container exposed to the elements. The fill cap assembly has a screen extending into the container to prevent large particles from entering.

If the closed system is used, a quick-disconnect coupler and a drying filter are installed in the two extra ports on the pump head, and the fill cap is removed from the container and the opening is covered. To fill this unit, a quick-disconnect coupler from a fill station is connected to the one that is installed in one of the ports on the container’s pump head.

The fluid enters the container without being exposed to the elements. Because the product line uses thick-walled polyethylene (which is an insulating material) for the containers in conjunction with the drying filter, the possibility of condensation and/or contamination is greatly reduced.

Signage and serial numbering is an important issue with the family of products. Immediate recognition of the containers’ contents, at a glance, saves time and reduces errors on the part of the operator. The signage is color coded to industry standards. All oil signage follow the colors issued by the oil manufacturer for accurate recognition. If you want to have control over oil contamination, use USMDI products.
